Movie Poster

There is no possible way to research "coming soon" posters without running into thousands of movie posters.

I ran into this site that has the best of 2014 movie posters.

Bird Man

Godzilla

BAOBAO

Bao is a word in the Chinese language for dumpling. Eszter Laki from Budapest  Hungary, designed a menu that reminds me a lot of the Za's menu here in Champaign Illinois. You can check off exactly what you want on their write on menus. Only this restaurant is more Asian than Italian.

Eszter Laki goes on to say "I have made a dozen hand drawings during my Asian journey therefore these sketches became a starting point of the interior’s imagery including the dim sum reference drawings which were painted on the wall after projection. The cooking processes are indicated on different labels as well, all using a typical neon red tone specifically present in the Vietnamese urban landscapes and hand-painted glazed signs. This tone is in frequent use in Vietnam with food-stamps as well, they mark different kind of fillings with the stamp used on the noodle’s bare surface. The origami folded chopstick cases and the bamboo streamer pots wear the same neon red logo which was applied by tampon printing. The menu card is from disposable paper on which the guests are able mark their order. There is a farewell surprise – when leaving every guest gets a fortune cookie in which the content is carefully dedicated to the truth whatever it may be.
The restaurant has its own draft beer therefore I made the beer mat part of the identity which evokes Asian visual culture with fine hop drawings. "

Fade Street Social

I came across this menu cover on Behance. It is for, Fade Street Social, the menu is called, The Gastro Bar. The reason it intregied me so much was because of all the illustrations all over. The random busyness of it drew me in more and more.

It was designed my Steve Simpson from Dublin, Ireland. This is what Steve had to say about it "llustrated fold over menu cover for Dublin restaurateur Dylan McGrath's new venue, Fade Street Social"

Mörkvalley Microbrewery

While searching for the best menu designs of 2015 I came across Taylor Evans who is a graphic designer from Australia. Taylor working on a brand called, Mörkvalley Microbrewery.

Taylor describes the brand:
"Brand Identity for Mörkvalley Microbrewery. The name Mörk originates from the Norwegian word ‘dark’. The name draws inspiration from the signature style dark ale brew produced within the microbrewery. Mörkvalley has a relaxed but sophisticated vibe, the concept was to keep the brand simple and honest. Brand components consisted of a logo system, brand identity, menus, exterior signage, beer bottle packaging and website design."

Identity Design

For project 2 we were assigned to come up with  an identity piece for a local company of our choice. I decided on Kids 1st of Champaign Illinois. It is my sons school and he loves it there. I am actually surprised that I did not think of working on this before in the past.

For inspiration I found quite a few logos for different day cares around the world.

billboard inspiration

For this first project we are working on designing a billboard for a local business. I have decided to go with Illini Oil Change in Urbana Illinois. For my inspiration I actually decided to take photos of the billboards around town. There were only two that I found unique. They are actually both posted right next to Surface 51 which is a big graphic design company in Champaign. (Which i found very ironic)

I found this one to be unique because there is not really an explanation for the design. It just texture and shows a huge design that is very appealing to the eye.
